- Virtualization with Hyper-V allows multiple workloads to be run on a single machine, boosting utilisation. Something I use VirtualBox to deal with legacy operating system, e.g. Windows 95, developing Visual Basic 6 program (Automation).
- TS RemoteApp applications can be accessed remotely and will appear as if they were running from the user’s local computer. Yet to try this soon.
- Server core installation is 4x smaller — 1.7GB compared to 6GB. The installation wizard is similar to that of Microsoft Vista. For example, Desktop Experience feature (e.g. Aero Theme, Disk Cleanup, screen saver, Mail, Media Player, Defender, Photo Gallery) is not installed during installation (21 mins).
- PHP applications can be hosted with its IIS 7 for both development and deployment. Previous version only deploy in Linux/Unix. Later after MS SQL Server 2008 appears in Sept this year.
- Network Access Protection enforces protection on Linux by screening computers that participate in the network. Work better with Vista Ultimate’s BitLocker.
